For years, I have always been frustrated with not having a good place to keep my razor in the shower as well as tripping over my wife’s razors on the shower floor. About a year ago, I got to work on something that would hang a razor in the shower by the shower curtain rod. I came up with a design that worked, but realized that many homes today use glass or plastic shower doors. In addition to the magnet strap for rods and towel bars, I added a suction cup to the rear. This is when I realized I had something! After experimenting with various materials, I concluded that vinyl would be the best material to use. It’s inexpensive, lightweight, and most important, waterproof. Many of them can be manufactured at a reasonable cost and made affordable to the public. I searched the internet and found a company who could engineer prototypes and manufacture mass quantities. After a year of prototyping and design work, I finally had 11 factory finished samples! I gave some away for friends to use for testing. My wife and I use it and I am frustrated no longer. This is how Razorpouch was born.

Razorpouch is a clear vinyl double sided pouch that fits a shaving razor in the front pouch, and replacement blades in the rear pouch. It magnet straps to shower curtain rods, towel racks, and suction cups to glass, mirrors, and tile. This allows a person to take their razor in the shower and place it conveniently. Razors are no longer left on the shower floor, window ledge or shelf to get dirty. Razorpouch keeps the razors clean, safe, and dry. This will also increase the life of the razor. Its small lightweight design makes it easy to take your razors along while traveling. Razorpouch fits both men’s and ladies razors. Its smooth vinyl construction lets it wipe clean easily with a damp cloth.
Inventor: John Maruca
I am 39 years old and live in Lakeland Florida with my wife of 10 years and my 1 year old son. I am a school teacher and have taught Kindergarten for 8 years. I have always been interested in creating objects that solve problems and make people’s lives easier. Back in 2002, I invented, patented and licensed Door Jam Basketball: a hoop toss game that adjusted in door jambs to make it easier for children to get baskets. It sold in Toys R Us and KbToys. It was very cool to see it in the stores. I play ice hockey and collect vintage Star Wars and Transformers collectibles. I love video games and still have and play my original Atari 2600 as well as PS3 and iphone games.
In my rush to create a fast prototype of something that could hang a razor in the shower, I quickly cut some suede with a scissor into an ugly form that resembles the current razorpouch. I stuck some Velcro dots on it and stapled it together and tried it out! It was the ugliest thing I ever created but it worked. Since it was made if suede, (the worst material I could have ever thought to bring in the shower!) it got all soggy but it still held up. I still have it today and have it hanging next to the finished Razorpouch. When I look at the 2 items, I smile to know how far the design has come, and how goofy that experiment was.

What a neat idea. I travel a lot and I would like to have one of these to store my razor in my travel bag. It also would come in handy when staying at hotels where counter space is limited. Very creative idea!
