I was competing in bmx freestyle and my shoelaces kept getting caught in my bicycle chain. I began to search for a product to solve this problem, but no solution was available. So, using cardboard I made a pair of the first tongueties! Needless to say they worked great, except for when it rained. I then obtained some material, learned to sew, and made my first official pair of Tongueties!
July 12, 2010
Basically a military-grade nylon pocket that attaches to shoes via (2) Velcro attachments. Tongueties can be applied with the shoe tied or not and just as easily removed. Once in place, the shoelaces can be placed in the secured nylon pouch including the knot. The outside can be used to express the person interests or passion. One advantage to using tongueties is the ability to leave the tongueties on your shoes and just slip them on and off! Toddler sizes are coming soon for the little tikes to give the parents some relief.
Inventor: Sean M. Watkins
I’m 39 yrs. Old and work as a Firefighter \ Paramedic in the Town of Orange Park. I still currently compete in Bmx Freestyle and ride everyday using the Tongueties and they have never let me down!
I went to the Inventors show Inpex in Monroeville in 2006! I took a wild cab ride with a cabbie that was answering 5 different phones while driving the curves of the Pittsburgh hills. Scary! Plus, I was pretty broke after paying for my own booth, and the week stay at the travel lodge. The show was a mile from my lodgings, so I had to walk that everyday dragging my materials with me….rain or shine. I ate almost every meal at Mcdonald’s and CiCi’s pizza! However, I met a lot of great people and contacts. All this made for a memorable time! Then of course there were the flea markets, but that’s another story!
It seems today everyone has a glove for everything, now a multifunction glove that sands, providing a grip action while protecting your hands. Convenience, comfort and ease all in one. Keep a pair in your home, garage or car.
Hand protection: Made of nylon, urethane palm/fingers and coated with aluminum oxide, it protects your hands from drying, chapping, splinters, blisters, cuts and nicks. Try a pair find out how comfortable they are, use while brushing or rolling your next painting project, remove them and you’ll find yourself wanting to put them back on.
Gripping: Not only does the three in one glove protect your hands from paint, grease and dirt, it also offers superior gripping. No more will your hands slip from a pipe wrench and smash your knuckles. Perfect for the camper, collecting wood and splitting it with an ax for the fire.
Sanding: Always looking for that piece of sand paper? It happens you take your gloves off, look in your toolbox for apiece of emery paper tear a strip, put your gloves back on and clean the copper for fluxing. When sanding wood or metal it’s an enhancement not a replacement for sand paper, got a lot of sanding comfort while using a sanding block, hold sandpaper (no more slipping or hands getting hot, dry or chapped). Up on a ladder hang on tight, next you see a spot you missed no more going down the ladder and getting that piece of sand paper.
Many others have tried to make a practical sanding glove however, no one has been able to provide comfort, dexterity and automation together. Hand sanding is never a fun part of a job, getting into tight spaces and the convenience the gloves offer. All while protecting your hands or high on ladder holding on tight and needing to knock that one spot clean.
Inventor: Jerry Duda & Tom Golibart
Co-inventors: Jerry Duda 25 years background in building and designing equipment in the automotive industry, Jerry saw the writing on the wall and felt the need to diversify. He created and was able to build and design a piece of automated equipment to mass-produce the gloves with minimal labor. Tom Golibart with 30 years in the paint industry knew there had to be an easier way to hand sand with ease and convenience.
Given the task to design, market and sell the gloves, making them the practical and affordable for people to hold on tight, having hand protection and the capability of sanding. All while having the freedom to be able to use your hands to complete varies tasks.

This makes such good sense that it is too good to be true. I want this for my elderly mother who loves to walk but hates to stop to tie her shoe laces.
