While teaching my 8 year old son how to maintain proper form when shooting a basketball I thought that there has to be a better way. As I began to look around at parks and gyms I saw other people who had the same problem. When most people shoot a basketball their elbow comes away from their side, which is called having a chicken wing. So I thought that if there was a way to alert the shooter that the elbow is coming out that would help to recondition the shooters mind and change their bad shooting form.

The Electronic Basketball Shooting Coach-tm, is a patent pending product that teaches people of all ages how to shoot with proper form. The unit fits on the left or right forearm and through response conditioning retrains the mind. This product fits in the palm of your hand and is made from a sturdy yet lightweight plastic good for long-term use! There is a sensitivity switch that you can adjust the to the desired level and can be used to help you gauge your improvement.
When you shoot the basketball with the elbow tucked in the product will not sound. If your elbow is out when you shoot the basketball then an alarm will sound because you are using “bad form”.

The first steps of my thousand-mile journey began at the age of 16. That is when I came up with my first invention. At the time I had no other place to turn expect to the "invention submission companies"? I was ready to find the money to give to them, 11,000 dollars, until I received some great advice from a family member. He told me to do some research on the company and if the report came back clean then he would help me. He owned a few restaurants and he had the money, so while I did not want to I did the research. When I received the letter from the Better Business Bureau about the company, I was glad he told me to do my homework. Now I have formed a company called The Moye Group, LLC so I can help entrepreneurs by answering questions, helping with patent searches, and provisional and utility patents. I try to do what every I can to help.
I also develop and find companies to manufacture my products. My latest product is called The Electronic Basketball Shooting Coach. Through muscle memory this patent pending product helps people maintain proper form when shooting a basketball.
When I began to receive the first prototypes I had my brother try them out. We joke around all the time. So he was like it’s not going to work but as he began to use it the smiled turned into excitement and he said “It really works”! We both just started laughing and I said yea it works.
We have been very excited to introduce our new product the Handy Headrest Hanger to market this year. We know that it fills a need that many drivers do not realize they have until it is too late. Of course we are all aware that the manufacturer clothing hanger is most times over one of the rear windows in a vehicle. When a driver, with clothing hanging in the window, decides to change lanes he could be put into a dangerous situation as his view is obstructed. Most of us have probably found ourselves in similar circumstances a time or two.
Seriously, when do people have an opportunity to hang clothes in the window? Following are a few examples:
- Traveling business professionals.
- Seasonal travelers.
- College students traveling back and forth to school.
- People picking up laundry from the drycleaner.
- People who have errand services.
It is surprising how many distractions actually challenge a driver on any given day. Motorists are distracted by everything from billboards, and people walking down the street to radios and cell phones. The most important job of a motorist of course is to pay attention to driving, and to arrive at their destination safely.
The Handy Headrest Hanger completely eliminates one of these obstacles, and provides an alternative to using the car coat hooks that are installed by the manufacturer. Tom O’Neill has a BS in Industrial Technology, and an MBA. He has worked the past 28 years in a manufacturing environment mostly as a quality manager. His work in the automotive industry, specifically seating allowed him the comfort to develop the Handy Headrest Hanger.
Tom O’Neill is married for 24 years, and has 3 children. He has spent much of his spare time as the president of a local summer recreational swim team, and spent several years coaching soccer, and working as a commissioner in the soccer league. Tom has an interest in the special needs community.
Handy Headrest Hanger is certainly a new product to the market. Having limited funds to spend on advertising, we started making cold calls. We were very excited that our very first customer was AAA. They liked our product and thought it made sense for travel safety. We thought it was fun that such an upstanding organization would be the first to take note of our product.
Also again, having no funds for advertising we decided to request our local TV station would try it on TV. WKYC Channel 3 Try it before you buy it tried this out on air. We had no idea how it would turn out for us. It was a true leap of faith. As we watched the program we had no idea what our rating would be. My husband and I were thrilled to find that our rating was 5 out of 5 stars.

This is great for living in a busy city. I live in Pittsburgh and traffic is horrific, I have to constantly merge on extremely busy roads and cannot afford to have my clothes blocking my view while driving. Definitely an accident saver.

The Handy Headrest Hanger is ideal for overpackers such as myself. This product allows me to have more room when traveling back and forth from college. It allows me to hang more clothes than on the side of my window and doesn't block my view. This … more product is a MUST for college students!

The Handy Headrest Hanger is so much more functional than the Electronic Basketball shooting coach. The basketball coach was invented already...look in Eastbay magazine. Your kids will most likely grow up to be business people rather than professional … more basketball players. THE HANDY HEADREST HANGER wins hands down. Who ever invented it is brilliant.

I think this is an awesome product! I have never seen it on Eastbay or on any other site for that matter. Great product everyone who uses it will benefit from it! PS. Just because you have a hanger on your seat it doesn't make you a business person.

In basketball shooting is everything. If you can't score, you wont receive much playing time. This product helps you to get playing time.
