A very close friend of mine picked up a piece of this cloth and started to wet it in warm water in his office sink. I sat there thinking he was going crazy; understand we are talking on a hot August day. He walked back and placed this cloth on my bald head and said, “wait a minute and tell me what you feel.” This piece of cloth started to get COOL. I looked at Rick and said, “What the hell is it?” he laughed and said “a cloth that gets cool by activating it with water, how would you market it?” Well I was spellbound for a moment then asked what I thought was a smart question. “What makes it work?” Rick said “it’s the way it is woven and the type of materials used to make it. That’s all I know at this time, but if you think it is something worth investigating we can talk with the inventor. My first feelings where very mixed up. I never saw anything like it. My first thought and still my thought today is “I have a product no one else has and it has literally thousands of uses. How can I market it?” I am just a little guy on a huge planet.
My first thought was to retail the product so off I go selling door to door and low and behold orders started coming in. I got restaurants, golf courses, and lots of other business. My now partner at the advertising agency was doing fabulous designs and you can see some of them on our blog. But after all the dust settled and the sales where made they never retailed it! The reason was as plain as the noise on my face. Nobody told anyone what it did. It is the only cloth on the planet that gets COOL by the way it is made and it is all natural with no chemicals in it! You see this is not a product to use as a promotion but it is a useful way of cooling down your body. People never saw anything except a picture on a cloth and missed out on the value so we needed to change our approach of awareness. Thus we moved over to medical. Both the inventor and I thought this was the better way to go. We were still learning as we moved forward. At this point we still didn’t understand that we need to get this to the end user...
Let’s move forward to our next disappointment. The inventor and I both thought the medical field was a perfect place to introduce this amazing new product. So we did just that, he and I went out to San Diego to a huge medical Expo and were well received by all. However after our three day “show and tell”, we discovered that in this area everyone wanted whitepapers about the product and there were none. It was just invented and the company had no money to spend on studies to support our claims. Remember all we claimed is it “gets cool” and stays that way for a long time. Let me add we did get one great order from the National Psoriases Foundation. They placed a cloth in a help package for doctors to give to patients with Psoriases. This is where it gets really interesting. I kept hearing from the woman coming up to our both,” Oh can I have a sample to use for my Hot Flashes?” I gave out over one thousand samples Tim, and knew when I got back home Rick and I need to redesign a product with a Hot Flash Relief packaging. I got back and we did exactly that and we are using it in conjunction with a MLM program to reach the end user, the woman with menopausal Hot Flashes. This program is in place and needs some financial support. But the project that needs instant help is our fundraising program. Here is the nifty take on this two sided fundraiser program.
I have come up with a plan to raise money to first purchase the cloth and then have a non-profit organization sell it at high traffic location for their cause. This could be a Lions Club, school sporting event that need money or any good cause. The first part of this project is to sell advertising spots on the cloth for business owners to promote their business and the second part is they can deduct the cost of advertising because the product is donated to the cause. The sale of advertising covers the cost of the cloth. Then the organization gets to sell it to support their group’s fundraiser. This approach allows us to get more public awareness of the RealCool Cloth’s existence which is our number one intent.
