Adesso Albums are a combination of a guest book and a photo album and are GREAT for weddings, retirement, anniversary, graduation, birthday parties, bar mitzvahs, baby/bridal showers anniversaries – actually any time a group of family and friends get together to celebrate a milestone in life.
All kinds of photos – Fuji Instax or old school Polaroid instant, digital, or the new PoGo prints – are taken and developed or printed right there at the event and slid into the special die cut pages of the Adesso Albums. Guests write notes to the guest/s of honor on their special page and VOILA! An instant memento of the event to be enjoyed immediately afterwards!
The albums come in a variety of colors, and are covered in fabric, matte laminated paper, plastic and leather, depending on the album.
It was early 2001. I’d been working for high profile technology companies in Silicon Valley since 1973 and a single mother of 4 children for the preceding 10 years. The last of the kids got squared away in college and I felt like I’d crossed the finish line of a marathon! I walked into my boss’s office at Cisco the very next day and quit! I had no idea what I was going to do, but I knew it wasn’t going to be more of the same.
Emancipated for the first time in almost 3 decades, I traveled to Florence to attend a friend’s wedding. The bride asked me to take Polaroid pictures of the guests at the reception, scotch tape them into a gorgeous Italian leather bound scrapbook and have the guests write something to the newlyweds on the page where their picture was taped. As a single guest it was a great way to mingle with a purpose, it was fun for the guests, and a wonderful instant memento for the couple.
A few days later on a train from Florence to Rome, I reflected on the wedding and the whole experience of putting together this album for my friends. The only problem with the process was that it was time consuming and ugly to have to scotch tape the pictures into the album and when it was finished, it was lumpy and homemade looking. I thought, “there has to be a better way to do this and simplify the process and make the final product more elegant.” And right there, in my Italian travel journal, right next to all the things I’d never want my kids to read, I sketched what would become the patented Adesso Album!
Inventor: Lesley Mattos
Born November 20, 1951 in Watsonville, CA, the oldest of four children.
Graduated from Santa Clara University in 1973 with a degree in accounting. Worked for some of the most prestigious companies in Silicon Valley for almost 30 years in positions of finance, investor relations, and corporate communications before "retiring" and starting my first e-commerce business, Adesso Albums.
After raising four children in the suburbs, and successfully launching them into the world, Lesley moved to San Francisco and now lives directly across the street from AT&T Park in the bustling South Beach neighborhood of the city and is an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants!
My mom was one of less than 1,500 women who were in the Women’s Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) in WWII. These highly trained civilian female pilots were by the employed to fly military aircraft under the direction of the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. Their purpose was to free male pilots for combat service and duties they ferried planes domestically for several years until the program was shut down. On July 1, 2009 President Obama and the Congress awarded the WASP the Congressional Gold Medal. Three of the roughly 300 surviving WASPs were on hand to witness the event.
