While traveling in the military, I became frustrated with the minerals from my make-up jars spilling out of the sifter and filling up the top of the jar, creating a big mess when I opened them after a long trip. I was wasting so many minerals and almost stopped using them. During a trip to Florida in December of 2007, I thought about how I could stop the minerals from spilling out of the sifter and decided that an insert with some type of plastic bottom would do the trick. I contacted a manufacturer in early 2008 and The Original Mineral Saver went on sale in September 2009.

The Original Mineral Saver is a non-latex foam insert with a plastic film on the bottom that is inserted into mineral make-up jars to prevent the minerals from spilling out of the sifter and filling up the top of the jar.

I retired from the United States Army as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2006 after 20 years of service. After a successful career in the Army, I took a position at the United States Military Academy, West Point and am serving as their Chief of Operations. I invented the The Original Mineral Saver which launched in September 2009.
I really started to think about inventing this product in Dec 2007 while on a trip to Florida. I flew from New York to Florida and the following morning, I opened up my jar of bare Escentuals and the minerals spilled out all over my black pants. That was the moment that I really decided to move ahead with this invention because I loved the minerals, but hated the mess!!
The CADDi lets you carry beverages in tapered cups with one finger, leaving hands free to text, carry luggage/kids/books, open doors and more. Let's you hang your drink in restrooms. Let's you carry more than one beverage. It's reusable, so saves the waste of disposable collars. For me, it's cool that it lets you put your arm down and still carry a beverage - end of the crooked wrist. Works with hot and cold beverages up to 16 ounces (including domed cups), eliminating the need for insulating collars, as your hands don't even touch the cup.
Small quantities can be customized with labels. Larger (6,000, with up to 4 designs within that) can be custom printed on the whole surface.
Great for outdoor events, sports venues, anyone juggling beverages and armloads.
I woke up with the idea in May, 2005. I created a prototype in 15 minutes and showed it to my husband saying it was either really dumb or really smart. He voted smart and I proceeded. It took almost a year to get the product correct from the manufacturer.
As an artist I've had a few ideas along the way, but this one seemed like it could fit along with the rest of my life. Still deciding if it does, but it's still an adventure, so I'm in.
Many ideas just come and go, but I wanted to run one through the paces to see what happens. At some point, income would be great, thought I'm still in outgo phase. That ratio is improving.

I'm an artist and commercial illustrator. I've worked in cottage industry and rote a book call "E is for Entrepreneur" about the lifestyle of being self-driven/employed, which includes notes about this CADDi experience.
When you give it to a man, very often the first thing he'll do with it is put the straps on his ears and hang it like an oat-bag. Says more about the man than the CADDi, I think. Cracks me up, though

This is an amazing little find! I've owned several of them and have passed many on to others. One friend found himself having to get around with the use of a walker for awhile. I gave him one of my caddi's he could tie it to the front of his walker to … more carry his beverages and he loved it. He doesn't have to use the walker anymore, but he still has the caddi - and uses it!

Great product. I stopped using mineral powder b/c of the insult to the madness...a messy make-up. (The mess)Cannot go on this far. Continuous sales are not as high to sales reps...I know a sales person who wants to continue selling them..but 'the mess' is … more affecting her sales...all sales people should sell this with the product...as well as across the OTC and fine department stores. Sales will grow, again. Again, I do not know how the research department got away thinking that powder and gravity does not make a mess-it does!

This is a great product. The foam has a plastic bottom and when placed in the jar, prevents minerals from spilling out of the jar when you travel with your minerals. It also can be used as an applicator if your forget your brush.
