FlyeBaby can be used on an airplane creating a secure, comfortable place to put a baby during a flight and then as a highchair at home or on-the-go.  It can also be used around a pool or at the beach by attaching to lounge chairs or beach chairs.  FlyeBaby folds up for complete portability and fits easily in a diaper bag or carry on.  For airplane use, simply attach the straps to the tray table and then secure the bottom strap around the adult’s waist.  For chairs, secure straps around the back and base of the chair.  Baby is secured by a three-point harness system.  All straps on FlyeBaby are fully adjustable to allow use on the majority of airplanes and/or chair models.  FlyeBaby can be used for infants up to 25 lbs. Machine washable, constructed of prewashed, preshrunk, 100% cotton material with matching fabric storage bag.  One product, multiple uses!

On a flight to New York with my infant daughter, Ella, I envisioned a light-weight, portable hammock-style seat that would give me a place to lay her daughter down on the plane so that I could interact with her, change her diaper, feed her or get her to fall asleep.  I knew that my idea could come to life for my next flight, only a few weeks later, because my father owns a local upholstery shop and over the years he has sewn anything and everything his three daughters have asked of him!  I flew again weeks later with my daughter but this time I had the first FlyeBaby proto-type to use.  I couldn’t believe how my idea had come to life and how the concept actually worked!  My daughter loved it and people on the plane were asking what it was and where I got it!  Ella was able to play peek-a-boo with me and I was able to lay her down and get her to fall fast asleep.  Who knew life on a plane with a baby could actually be enjoyable!  While she slept, I had two free hands and was able to read a magazine.

When I reached my destination, a rented cabin, I then realized that I had no secure place for her to sit so that I could feed her.  She had just started eating solid foods and trying to feed her while sitting on the floor was a mess for both of us and the floor!  If only I had a high-chair.  I couldn’t have packed one and I couldn’t expect the family we rented the cabin from to buy one for me.  Why couldn’t FlyeBaby serve this purpose as well?  Back to the drawing table, we modified the design so that it would work on the airplane and a dining room chair.  During the re-design process we also came up with the idea of the seat being used on an outdoor lounge chair or beach chair.  We live in Florida and spend a lot of time at the beach and from her first visit Ella loved to eat sand by the fistfuls!  Having a secure place to put her at the beach that allowed me the chance to feed her without the fistfuls of sand was the inspiration behind the lounge and beach-chair uses.

As a young, stay-at-home mom I never set out to invent a product and become the president of my own company, but creating a solution to problems that I experienced when flying with my infant daughter started the journey of FlyeBaby.  It has taken years for the patent to get issued, the FAA to review the product and the design to be perfected but FlyeBaby is now ready to be launched!

I consider myself a practical parent and I try to sort through the thousands of products out there claiming to make life with a baby easier.  From the beginning, I wanted it to be a practical product that parents could relate to.  However, taking an idea and turning it into reality has been a long and daunting process and much harder than I ever imagined it would be.

Like the majority of families today, my husband experienced layoffs from his job, as he was in project management in the very hard hit construction industry.  We have had many disappointments and struggles but decided to embrace the life changes that this economy has given us.  Together as a family team we have focused all of our time and energy on FlyeBaby as we prepared for the product launch.  Our dream and goal is to see FlyeBaby bring comfort to babies and convenience to parents all around the world!

The one thing that I get the most comments on is the name of the product and the connection to my last name.  When my daughter was a baby people would call her the little Flye baby and it’s an ironic twist of fate that I just so happened to invent a product that has to do with flying.  It was only natural that we name the product FlyeBaby after my daughter who was the inspiration behind the idea and because the original concept was for use when flying!

Looks like if the baby moves around- it's pulling and shaking the seat in front of them. That would be terrible!

Can it make the babies shut up too? Maybe people with kids that small shouldn't be flying.

Great idea . . . I'm not sure any of us plan to be an inventor and yes the task is very daunting . . . I'm glad you stuck with the journey.

Brilliant! Looks easy to use and transport. Sounds like something the airlines might want to provide for their passengers with babies.

THE HOLE DEAL is a manually operated post hole digger.  It looks a lot like the old standard spread handle model of clam shell digger with one small difference.  The difference is a pivot between the handles that allows the blades of the post hole digger to be closed by moving the handles together rather than spreading the handles apart.

To operate the blades the handles are move toward each other from eight inches apart to about 4 inches apart.  In fact, over the entire length of THE HOLE DEAL the tool is never wider than 8 inches at any point.  This allows the user to dig holes as deep as five feet with the top of the hole being no wider than 8 inches in diameter.

This minimal hand movement is faster and easier on the user than spreading handles 2 feet apart as the old models require.  You can also dig close to objects such as buildings, fences or cement slabs with no worry about banging your knuckles against objects close to the hole.  Remember, your hands are moving in, not spreading out.

You will find that with THE HOLE DEAL you can dig deep, straight sided holes of any shape or size, in hard to get at places and you can do so faster and with much less effort.

I was digging a hole to place a post in my lawn to keep cars from driving on the grass.  I wanted the post to stick up about two feet above ground level.  I had a really nice 6 foot post that I wish to use for this purpose.  It was such a nice post that it would have been a shame to have cut it shorter.  The solution was to simply dig a four foot deep hole.  I was using an old spread handle, clam style post hole digger that I had borrowed from my neighbor.  I soon found out that as I dug deeper and deeper toward the four foot depth I had to also dig the hole wider and wider at the top or the digger wouldn’t work.   When I finally got down to the four foot depth I found that my hole had a really wide top and I had removed a lot more dirt and dug up more grass than I had wanted to.  I also spent a lot more time digging the hole than I thought it would take.  Then when I place my 6 foot post in the hole it was wobbly because of the wide hole top.  I had to spend a lot more time filling the wide top of the hole around the post and packing the soil tight enough so that the post no longer wobbled.  I thought to myself……”There has got to be a better way!”

After much thought and experimentation I developed a tool that solved all the problems of the old type diggers and even had some additional benefits.  I applied for a patent, was granted one and began to work to bring this tool to market.

Inventor: Jeff Vaughter

I am a married father of three.  I keep busy as a landlord having bought and rehabbed a couple of run down properties.  I do a lot of my own work from basic wiring and plumbing to designing and construction.    I had to sell one of these properties to finance the design, prototyping, patenting, and all that is involved with manufacturing and marketing a new product.  Currently I also referee high school sports and work on a corporate farm while continuing my real passion which is trying to reach the mass market with my invention.

I took a rough working prototype of my concept for a post hole digger to the Minnesota Inventors Congress show in 2000.  My objective was to do some marketing research to see if there was anyone else that thought that my idea was marketable.  I thought that getting anyone else excited about something as mundane as a post hole digger was a long shot at best.  I ended up winning second place by the judges of the show and was also awarded the Maynard Speece Award having been voted by the public attendees at this event as the product with the greatest popular appeal.  This validation was all I needed to get me excited and motivated to make and market this product concept.

At first glance it looks like a normal post-hole digger. Upon reading the description, it makes so much sense. Being a physical therapist, it sounds like it would work much more efficiently ergonomically than the "old" kind. Plus, you can get intomore tight places! Great idea!

This is great! It's amazing that no one thought of this before. I hate the old type of post hole diggers. This looks like it would work much better.
