One day, while Steve and his wife Gina were shopping, Steve was inspired by the shopping bag he was carrying.  He thought to add two hangers, one on each side of the bag, which would allow it to hang in a closest.  Steve took this idea and invented the Handy Hamper®.

In 2004 Steve & Gina began using a Handy Hamper at home to hold laundry in their closet. They discovered it was a convenient way to carry the laundry to and from the laundry room and wanted to give that same convenience to their dry cleaning customers.

In 2005, packaging was designed for the Handy Hamper and the first order of 2,000 bags was placed. Steve started production on the first model of the Handy Hamper and began selling it to his customers The Handy Hamper has brought in over one- million garments to his dry cleaning business to date

Inventor: Steve Berlund

Steve Berglund owner of Mastercraft® Solvent Free Dry Cleaning based in Fresno, California is the inventor of Handy Hamper. He wanted to provide himself and his dry-cleaning customers with a convenient way to bring in their laundry so he invented the Handy Hamper based on an idea he had from a regular old shopping bag. The design was similar, but he needed to make some modifications. He added hangers, used a light breathable fabric, added an identification card and adjusted the placement of the handles. The Handy Hamper has brought in over one-million garments to his dry cleaning business. In addition to bringing garments to his dry-cleaning shop, Steve and his wife realized that it was a great item to have in their home as well. They began to use the Handy Hamper for their personal laundry collection and transport and have multiple Handy Hampers in each closet for separating lights and darks.

I thought of it when I was carrying my wife’s purchase of a pair of shoes in a fancy paper bag with those rope handles---and it occurred to me I could slip a hanger through each handle and I could then hang the bag in my closet and I could put my dry cleaning inside and take it to work.

Wet Babies are Slippery...Get a Grip! No Slip Charlie puts baby bath safety in your hands by giving you a great grip on your squirmy little soapy one during a bath.  These fingerless gloves are made of poly/lycra fabric which is soft and comfortable yet grippy when wet. The fingerless design allows you to test the water, touch your baby, and wash their hair while maintaining a soft gripping surface on your palms and between your fingers to help you safely maneuver and lift your baby out of the tub.  A removable terry cloth wash mitt attaches to either glove on the back with Velcro to make washing up a easy and convenient. The gloves have an elastic loop to hang dry.  One size fits all. Available in pink and blue.

I (Kim Shulman) created No Slip Charlie out of necessity when my son, Charlie, was an infant.  He was so squirmy and slippery in the bath and I was always afraid I was going to drop him.  I didn't want bath time to be stressful so I searched for a solution to my problem.  I knew I needed something on my hands but only found products that were made of terry cloth which was too heavy and soggy for the job. I used to wear my tankini top when I gave Charlie a bath because I would get very wet during the process.  I realized that when I held Charlie against my tankini top, he didn't slip.  Ah Ha! I bought some swimsuit fabric on ebay, whipped up a pair of fingerless gloves on my sewing machine, and it worked like a charm! I had some samples made and ran a test market that was very positive. I decided to move forward and start a business.

I love this idea! I need these. I would lessen my fear of a slipping baby. Great product. Good luck with it.
