Befudiom™ is the exciting new party game taking players on an educational ride through the world of idioms. Idioms are those phrases and slang terminology that don't make much sense when taken literally, such as "holy cow" or "kick the bucket." The name "Befudiom" combines "befuddled" and "idiom," alluding to the game's root in mixed-up meanings. Whether it's acting, drawing, shouting or spelling idioms, players have a blast exploring those "befuddling" phrases. Befudiom is a universal game for its appeal with players of all ages and multiple uses as a great party game, family game and educational game, too.
Inventor Wendy Hampton of Lawrenceville, Ga., never intended to develop the next best-selling game. This duel full-time credit and collections manager and single mom just wanted to create something educational and fun that she could play with her daughter, Taylor. When her then-ten-year-old daughter came to her and proclaimed that she was ‘totally bored,’ the two sat down on the floor and wound up with an idea for a board game about idioms – those quirky phrases and slang terminology we all use daily, but whose meanings aren’t deductible from the makeup of the individual words. Soon Wendy was staying up late at night – every night – developing content and gathering thousands of idioms, such as “kick the bucket,” for the interactive game known today as Befudiom™.
Inventor: Wendy Hampton
Wendy is a native of North Carolina and the younger of two siblings. She relocated to Atlanta in 1998 to further her career in finance. She is currently a credit and collections manager for IR Hussmann Corporation located in Suwanee, Ga., and is pursing her CPA certification at the National Association of Credit Management Institute.
Wendy Hampton of Lawrenceville, Ga., has always had a knack for innovation – but she never dreamed it would come to this! When this dual full-time credit and collections manager and single mom devised the concept for Befudiom, she just wanted to create something educational and fun that she could play with her daughter, Taylor.
For as long as she can remember, Wendy has always enjoyed coming up with games to enjoy with her daughter. Even though she’s creative by nature, she admits that working and taking care of a family can easily cause you to disconnect from your creative side without realizing it. She credits Taylor for helping to get her creative knack back.
Wendy Hampton was driving to work one morning, she heard an announcement about the Atlanta casting call on the radio and decided to give it a whirl. The cat sure got Wendy’s tongue when the Everyday Edisons judges selected her board game as a Season 1 invention! This was a helpful break for Wendy who orginally referred to her game as 'Shop Talk'. The assistance with product development helped propel Wendy's invention on through to development.
