One day I was working as a cook doing some prep work. Remembering my Grandma for all the different tricks she taught me in the kitchen. The one ingredient she always used without telling me was her heart. She was the best cook on the planet. So I’m working and remembering Grandma when a Snoop Doggy Dog interview comes on over the radio. He shouted out “What’s Crackin?”

Now this is a word I’d say from time to time but when you hear Snoop Doggy Dog say it, it takes on a different light. At the time we were making a pudding for 230 guests and I had 70 eggs to crack. So as I was just thinking about my work, having a laugh, and hearing “What’s Crackin?” The Egg Cracker formed in my mind and I’ve never looked back since. After making one and using it all the time at the restaurant, Jean Claude the head chef said I should sell it. Now were on Yak About It and “What’s Crackin?” is on our company letterhead.

Inventor: Miles O'Connor

Miles O’Connor was always into the arts, even as a kid he was drawing when ever he got the chance. To be an artist is his life long quest. So for the past eighteen years his artistic side has been surviving while working for restaurants and nightclubs in Chicago, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Miami. He’s even started his own cartoon strip based on the Hospitality business called “The Adventures of Flirt and Friday.”

The invention of The Egg Cracker has been a great connection of the Hospitality business and his Creative thinking.

Miles O’Connor won a car from putting his name on a 3 x 5 card and dropping it into a big basket. He sold the car and took all the cash and gave it to the first bum on the street. It was a great poetic gesture. His only regret was not getting better seats to a Bon Jovi concert before giving the money away.

A Zady®ball is designed with babies in mind. They are soft to hold and cuddle, and have lots of strings to grab and rub.

Lots of babies have a "lovey" and many times the item they pick has something for them to rub - whether it's the corner of a blanket or the nose on a teddy bear. The knotted ends of the strings are great to fulfill baby's need for something to rub!

Why Babies Love Them:
- Easy to grab and hold on to from a very young age
- Good for teething
- Soft to cuddle
- Knotted ends are very soothing to rub
- Makes a great lovey

Why Toddlers Love Them:
- Once a lovey, always a lovey
- Soft to cuddle (everyone loves soft things!)
- Easy to throw and catch, especially when you are just learning how

Why Mommies Love Them:
- Babies love them and we love our babies!
- Easy to clean, just throw in the wash!
- Safe!
- Soft enough that you don't have to worry about things breaking or anyone getting hurt when it is thrown around

When my son was about 6 months old, he had a toy giraffe with a knotted string for a tail. He loved playing with the string, and would rub it to help him fall asleep. He had a few other toys that had one or two strings and he just LOVED to rub them.He loved it so much, that I thought it would be great to create something for him that had lots of strings for him to play with. So, that is how the Zadyball was born -- out of love for my son. He slept with that original Zadyball until he started Kindergarten - although he has had several others that he has begged me for since I started making them to sell.

After winning a Scholarship to DeVry University, Alayna moved from Idaho to Phoenix, Arizona. Finishing her Bachelor’s Degree in 2001 in computer information systems, Alayna pursued a career as a computer programmer for Discover Financial Services. After having a beautiful baby boy she decided to change careers and become a stay at home mom. While at home with a new baby she looked for many, many things to help comfort her son. Finally realizing that he loved playing with strings that were large enough for him to grasp she invented the Zadyball. Alayna is now the mother of three children ages five, three and newborn. She lives with her family in Phoenix.

The design and the name of the Zadyball have evolved quite a bit since the first one. We called my son’s original one “Ragball” because it kind of looked like a bunch of rags sewn on to a ball.

I came up with the name “Zadyball” by combining my oldest kid’s names: Zander and Ady.
